We Walked 18,100 Steps.

Touring the business section of Hong Kong Island today, we log over 18,000 steps. Included in the tour is the world’s longest escalator and walkway system.  It starts in the Central area and goes to Mid-Levels. It is the longest outdoor covered escalator system in the world. The entire system covers over 2,600 ft (almost 9 football fields) in distance and rises over 443 ft from bottom to top. That’s like a 41 story building.

The escalators runs downhill from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and runs uphill from 10:30am to midnight. So, after we arrive at the top, we must choose between walking down all those stairs or continuing in a loop across Hong Kong.  That path takes us to The Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens. It is one of the oldest zoological and botanical centres in the world. Colton, of course, follows the signs to a Children’s Playground and instantly has a few more friends.

After walking thru the Night-Time Temple Street Market, the highlight of the day is a music laser-show at Victoria Harbor at 8:00 pm. The buildings across the harbor are LCD lit and timed to music. The day ends with a night-time STAR FERRY ride across Victoria Harbor. Simply Magical. My favorite boat ride in the world. AND the night-time view of Hong Kong Island is pretty special too.
