We Walked 18,100 Steps. Touring the business section of Hong Kong Island today, we log over 18,000 steps. Included in the tour is the world’s longest escalator and walkway system. It starts in the Central area and goes to Mid-Levels. It is the longest outdoor covered escalator system in the world. The entire system covers over 2,600 ft (almost 9 football fields) in distance and rises over 443 ft from bottom to top. That’s like a 41 story building. The escalators runs downhill from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and runs uphill from 10:30am to midnight. So, after we arrive at the top, we must choose between walking down all those stairs or continuing in a loop across Hong Kong. That path takes us to The Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens. It is one of the oldest zoological and botanical centres in the world. Colton, of course, follows the signs to a Children’s Playground and instantly has a few more friends. After walking […]
We’re Going TO DISNEYLAND !!! On day THREE in Hong Kong, we headed to Disneyland, Hong Kong. A special train with “Mickey Mouse” windows takes all kids and adults to the door of the fantasy kingdom…Check out our photos and rides: Pulling Excalibur’s Sword
Adventures in Hong Kong – Day 1 – Sunday, April 17, 2016 It was a really long flight to Hong Kong….24 hours door-to-door, more or less. After 6 or 7 hours, it all blends into a LONG trip. Colton did GREAT and so did my other boy, Clifford. We get to the hotel and fall asleep again. On Sunday we meet up with our friend, Rosemary Doyle, and begin the search for ANGRY BIRDS. We find a street market, walk around Central, eat noodles, take the STAR FERRY, make it back to the hotel and collapse again. The search for ANGRY BIRD cousins. A rough-cut collection of videos of our first day in Hong Kong searching for ANGRY BIRDS….coming soon.
HOLLINS Abroad Paris Reunion – 100 Years I am a graduate of Hollins University located in Roanoke, VA. While attending, had the opportunity to spend the year of 1979 studying abroad in PARIS. What an experience !!!! That’s one of the main reasons I choose HOLLINS–to study, live, and travel in Europe. The “best-selling” guide was EUROPE on $15.00/day. !!!! Today, that barely gets a coffee and croissant. Hollins arranged a reunion for all students who had attended either HOLLINS ABROAD PARIS or HOLLINS ABROAD LONDON in a combined reunion. 2015 was the 60th anniversary of the Paris Program and the 40th anniversary of the London Program…and together that totals 100 years!!! No classmates from my year (Class of 1981) attended the reunion, but I met other ladies who participated on the Abroad Programs. I knew I would feel at ease with ladies who had the same adventurous spirit. Admittedly, I was one of the younger ones (rare […]
Farragut Prom, 2013 As we near the prom season I want to share some photos of clients at their High School Prom. Two Senior Clients, one from Bearden High School and one from Farragut High School invited me to capture their Prom Memories in 2013. Kalie and Chandler, usually together at swim practice and in sweats, dressed up beautifully and looked fantastic.
West High School Prom, 2014 As the PROM Season in Knoxville, TN draws close, I wish to share some PROM images from the past few years. I was asked by the Mom of a favored Senior Client, Ellie McCammon, to photograph Ellie and her date before their PROM in the Spring of 2014. Ellie’s Mom, Kiki McCammon, admitted to leaving photos in her camera and iphone “WAY TOO LONG”. After working together on Ellie’s Senior Portraits, Kiki knew she would have a small album of the PROM photos prepared in time for Ellie’s birthday. Ellie’s Senior Shoot, in the Fall of 2013, has been one of my favorites as we were at her family property on the edge of Maryville. And her Mom, Kiki, is now an angel in the company of the Almightly. As tribute to Kiki McCammon I have also included the family photo which sums up her family, the important things in […]
